Research in Africa
Africa is an enormous and diverse continent. It is home to over one billion individuals who live in 54 countries. These countries range from relatively developed economies with stable, capacitated governments, sound infrastructure and formalised economies to extremely poor countries that have little of this. It is, of course, critical to pay attention to each country. But beyond this, within each country the extremes are significant. These realities have significant ramifications for research.
