   I’d be very interested to know the %s split between public sector and private sector. My impression, looking at COSATU affiliates over the years is that the proportion of unionised labour is now heavily skewed towards the public sector with a relatively small percentage of private sector workers unionised.

      Hi Indra,
      Thanks for your comment.Here are the numbers according to the Labour Force Survey:

      Private sector workers(private enterprises and NGO’s): 17% are members of a trade union

      Public sector workers (government and government controlled business): 66% are members of trade union
