According to World Rugby there has been a 28% increase in the number of registered female players since 2017, reaching an all-time high of 2.7m players globally (a quarter of the overall playing population). In South Africa, according to MAPS which is available through Eighty20’s Data Portal, around 38% of the South African adults that are interested in rugby are women.
