   Interesting, but this only presents one side of the coin. it does not reflect the number of ‘foreigners’ who were deported after being caught and/or convicted of crime.

   If you can elicit that level of detail, then we can see a clearer picture.

   In addition, knowing the exact number of foreigners in South Africa (almost impossible), and calculating that as a % of total population, gives a good reference to compare against % of SA prisoners (including numbers that were deported)

   We know how low our conviction rates are in this country, and that there is quite a number (unmeasured unfortunately) of crimes that go unreported…

   More detail needs to be provided.

   As for the South Africans who took part in this poll; more detail on their demographics would also help.

   As you can see in the article – the 4% compares to 3.1% of the population -which would make foreigners 30% more likely to be incarcerated than non-foreigners it also ignores all of those deported after conviction. This is not a good story to tell.

   I’m sorry to say but these stats are being used for a narrative of “foreigners aren’t that bad” but actually the stats your showing add ammo to the counter argument. That’s not a good idea?!
