    I am not sure that 18 000 will be running Comrades this year? About 20 000 has entered, but lots of them did not qualify and lots have pulled out. I will be surprised if 15 000 cross the start line. And then at least 10% will not make it. I am running this year and hope not to be part of the DidNotFinish statistics! Happy running!

    not sure about these statistics at all. About 14 000 will actually start. Your figures suggest that 1 in 8 runners in SA is a Comrades runner – that seems terribly high. If the statistic was 1.4 million in the last MONTH it would be more believable.
