During SONA 2024, President Cyril Ramaphosa claimed that the “worst is behind us” with regards to loadshedding, but just two days after SONA, Eskom announced they will be implementing stage 6 loadshedding until further notice. Moreover, in 2023, South Africa experienced 335 days of rolling blackouts (around 90% of the year), a significant increase from the 200 experienced in 2022.
