Antarctica gets around 150 mm of precipitation a year. It’s technically the largest desert on Earth, yet it locks away an astonishing share of the planet’s fresh water. Roughly 60% of all the world’s fresh water (about 90% of its surface fresh water) sits frozen in its ice sheet.
