On 19 February 1913, during a coup in Mexico, President Francisco I. Madero was forced to resign. Under the constitutional line of succession, Pedro Lascuráin became president, appointed Victoriano Huerta as Interior Minister, and resigned roughly 45 minutes later. As Interior Minister was next in line, Huerta assumed the presidency – meaning Mexico had three presidents in a single day.
