   This fact is skewed by how you define “used”. I’m sure it includes industrial usage of water and swimming pools etc.

   Actually the figure does not include industrial or agricultural water. It includes water used in and around the household, thus swimming pools and gardening water would be included. National geographic estimates that the average american lifestyle (which takes everything into account including industries and agriculture) is actually at about 7 500 liters (2000 gallons) per day.

      Well, in that case it makes me think about my own usage of water. Closer to 300 liters than 10 liters!

         No problem. Fortunately for you, you aren’t the “average person in the developing world”. It’s true that most of us use far more than 10 liters a day. It must make you wonder how many millions of people there are that use far less than 10 liters a day in order to bring down the average…
