   Unfortunately for you Marcel, a person can listen to more than one kind of music. So i think it is your logic you should be questioning rather than the fact.

      I hear what you saying, but in stats a sample size has to be set and mentioned and the fact that a person can nominate more than one genre of music has to be stated as well. In this case the statistic lacks another dimension. Of the people questioned, how many voted for more than one genre. Statistics means a lot when done and the info is passed on with the findings…

   The sample size has been both set and mentioned…”South African adults”…

   It talks about types of music that are listened to, not FAVOURITE type of music. The one is likely to get several responses from a respondent, and the other can only get one response.

   The number of people that indicated more than one genre has absolutely no impact on this statistic or its interpretation.

   “Statistics means a lot when done and the info is passed on with the findings”…but some people still don’t understand them!!

   I read this with a smile on the dial… If I add the percentages together 64 + 33 + 28 + 24 then I land up with 149%… So this fact is scewed…
