    Absolute rubbish! The first census was taken in the Bible in the days of Moses!

    Moses was born in Egypt in the month of Adar in the year 2368 from creation (1393 BCE) and passed away on his 120th birthday — Adar 7, 2488 (1273 BCE) i.e.~ 3,300 years ago. Different sources vary by a few hundred years, but that would still be less than 4,000 years ago, when we stated the first Census took place in China.

    I have been looking at this a few hours today as well, and while my first reaction was about 4500 years ago with Moses, I have to agree that this would have been the first census.

    Good theme 🙂

    I hope the census gets the support it deserves. When Helen Zille posted about it on her Facebook page last month (https://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=hp#!/notes/helen-zille/stand-up-and-be-counted/10150340974025399) some of the narrow-minded comments were quite horrifying.
