Sad for developing secure Black children. Dads are a necessary part of child development. Perhaps the lack of Dads in the previous generation perpetuates this behavior? A possible result -Young boys had no fathers and they intern don’t know how important their roles are to the new generation – Sad
A massive scary detachment or disengagement even in the black community; what is this case and why is not highlighted in the country’s socio-political agenda? It can’t be a simple case of more women becoming ‘independent’ or more black men preferring to shun responsibility? In a country where the majority of people, black people are poor and considering the age range of the population in question, is it possible that the government’s welfare grant is the catalyst to this trend? if so, is it useful in anyway then in encouraging circumstances were a generation of children will experience stunted growth?
I dont know why this isnt more alarming to people? The family nucleus is of critical importance to the development of healthy individuals. As I understand it, the average black man tends to judge their sense of worth and masculinity on how many women they have (amongst other self-indulgent metrices), not on how much they support their community, women and children. When the tribal system was broken, and the quest for material wealth that oozed out of the openings of the new south africa became an important driving factor, the spirit of ubuntu has consistently been fading from SA culture. In my oppinion, black south africans are the most jaded and unfriendly of black africans that I have met. I think they had to develop this narcisistic protection in their psyche because the health of the black community itself is in such turmoil, and it starts in the home, between man and woman, and neighbour to neighour. Ancient african values evolved the way they did for a reason, its a shame black south africans are throwing away the core principles that made african culture so healthy.
How about black men and women get together and support one another in creating a vision that they can all believe in, cause this ain’t working.
