Despite the urban myths regarding the low number of single men in Cape Town, 37% of Cape Town men aged between 25 and 50 describe themselves as single, while only 28% of Cape Town women of the same age describe themselves as single (marriage rates are roughly 60% for both genders). (AMPS2006A)

460,000 men, who are in LSM 8-10, and live in a metropolitan area play Playstation games, which is almost twice as many as those who play soccer, three times as many as those who play golf or cricket, and quadruple the number of those who play rugby. 54% of the Playstation gamers are over the age of 24.

In 2006, there were almost 140,000 South African men in LSM 8-10 who live in metro areas who have beauty treatments (manicures, facials, etc.). Of those who have beauty treatments, 39% were between the ages of 25 34, compared to 16% between the ages of 16 24.
