Gender inequality and HIV

10.8% of South Africans over the age of 2 are infected with HIV. 13% of females and 8% of males are infected. The Actuarial Society of South Africa estimates that a total of 5.2 million South Africans are infected with HIV (HSRC Household Survey 2005, ASSA 2003 model)
