There are 12.6 million households in South Africa. Gauteng has 2.9 million households followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 2.4 million and the Eastern Cape with 1.7 million. Other provinces with 1 million or more are Limpopo, Western Cape, and the North West. (Labour Force Survey 2004)
